Where can you get some of the best California and comfort-style food in the SFV? We’re at Emle’s in Northridge to check out their revamped breakfast, lunch, and dinner menu.

I come here a lot with my family, so I was eager to speak with owner Sam Makarem about the history of Emle’s and try some of their new dishes.

The restaurant was first established in the Carmel Valley in 1955, but it was moved to its current location in Northridge by Sam’s family in 2015. Emle’s is a family-owned business that is known for its breakfast creations.

Sam wants people to feel like they’re at home when they come to dine. They know many customers on a first-name basis, and really work to give the best possible service. They want people to feel like they’re having a home-cooked meal but with great service.

The newly revamped menu has some fantastic additions. One of the most notable is the fact that Emle’s is now scratch making the pasta for their famous eggplant parmesan and they’ve enhanced a morning tart with sauteed vegetables, eggs, pesto, and more.

“They want people to feel like they’re at home.”

There’s so much good food on the menu, but there was one item in particular that caught my eye. The waffle chicken sandwich starts with a homemade waffle batter and a marinated chicken that is battered and fried. Each “bun” consists of two waffles and a chipotle coleslaw and aioli. It’s one of their best sellers and I was so excited to taste it.

If you are looking for a great family restaurant whether it’s morning, noon, or night, come out to Emle’s in Northridge. They’re on Reseda Blvd on the SE corner of Prairie and Reseda in between Nordhoff and Plummer.
