Featuring over 70 items on their menu, there is a reason why Furn Saj Bakery & Restaurant family-run restaurant is considered to offer some of the best Lebanese food in all of Los Angeles.
Furn Saj’s name comes basically from what they do – “furn” which means oven, and all their flat breads & pizzas come from a special and customized oven. “Saj” is the bread that they bake fresh every day. All of their wraps and plates come with a saj – a pita-like bread done in a traditional Lebanese way. It is thin, large, and a super healthy bread. The saj is typically served with a variety of Mediterranean plates and wraps including shawarma, soujouk, gyro, falafel, and kebab.
In this episode of Eat Live Love San Fernando Valley, Scott tries 3 dishes. The first is the Za’atar on saj bread, a very wild herb mixed with olive oil, sesame seed, and sumac. This food is great if you’re looking for something vegan. The next dish is soujouk and cheese that looks like a pepperoni pizza. Finally, the za’atar labneh extra open which comes with the four different fresh vegetables on top – black olives, fresh cucumber, fresh tomato, and fresh mint leaves.
“Furn Saj cooks their food just like their mom taught them to do it in their kitchen. ”
