On this episode of Eat Live Love San Fernando Valley, we’re in Chatsworth to try some delicious, authentic Jamaican Food at One876 Caribbean Restaurant. I caught up with owner Trudy to hear her story and try some of her outstanding food.
The name One876 actually comes from Trudy’s husband. 876 is the area code for Jamaica, and they decided to spell the One out to signify “One Jamaica, One Caribbean.”
This restaurant actually opened in early 2020 right before COVID. Once things shut down, the community wrapped their arms around them, and they’ve been building from there.
Here at One876, you’ll find the most authentic jerk chicken in the valley. Their chicken is seasoned and marinated for days with spices like cinnamon, garlic, and scotch bonnet peppers, which give the jerk seasoning its signature kick. It’s tucked away in the refrigerator, then pulled out to grill outdoors, which gives it another layer of smoky flavor. Jerk sauce is also served on the side to add some extra spice and flavor.
If you’ve never had these dishes before, you have to get down here to try as soon as possible. For someone who likes spice and trying new cuisines, I highly recommend One876 Caribbean Restaurant.
Come on down to Chatsworth on the Northeast corner of DeSoto and Lassen (20869 Lassen St.). If you have suggestions for future episodes of Eat Live Love San Fernando Valley, don’t hesitate to reach out via phone or email. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
