Where can you find some of the best breakfast burritos in the San Fernando Valley? Today on Eat Live Love San Fernando Valley, we’re at Big Art’s Tacos in Mission Hills. Let’s get to it.
The San Fernando Valley has a lot to offer. Amazing food, rich history, tons of community events and amazing people and organizations. I’m Scott Himelstein with The Scott Himelstein Group, and this is Eat Live Love San Fernando Valley.
Carlos, my man.
Scott, how you doing, man? Everything good?
Everything great man. A pleasure and honor to be here. Huge fan of you guys, what you guys have been doing. And I think some of the best breakfast burritos that you’ll find in the valley that you guys been offering up. So tell me, how did this idea come about to be offering street breakfast burritos?
Man, it’s crazy. So Art started it all. It was at the park right here, down the street. 60 burritos started in a YETI cooler my man. Sold out in about an hour. Next day, did it again. Sold out in 30 minutes. So we went from a YETI cooler to now we have a whole full long grill set up. We have two tables on each side. It’s been crazy. It’s been two years already that we’ve been doing this, and it’s just been growing every single year. So we’re just blessed with all of our customers that we have. We’re so successful because of them. Can’t wait for you guys to try our burritos, man.
So obviously, we know that you guys sell breakfast burritos. What are the most popular items that people like to buy?
Yeah. So the first burrito that started everything was the carne asada burrito. So everybody has, ever since we started, pretty much always said, “Asada man let me get the steak. Let me get the steak.” So it just grew onto everybody. Then once we started adding other stuff to the menus, eventually we got to the chilaquiles burrito. That’s the one that is for you, Scott! We’re going make this especially for you dude. It comes with eggs, cheese, tater tots, pico de gallo, avocado sauce, throw some chilaquiles, throw also meat on top. You’ll be solid for the rest of the day man.
It’s a good thing, ’cause I haven’t eaten all day so far.
Perfect, perfect.
So and then in addition to the burritos, you guys do taco catering.
Yeah man. So actually we’ve been doing it 14 years already. So Art started the business a long time ago. Ever since I joined them about four years ago, I’ve been doing it part-time with him. Eventually me and him we both quit our jobs. So we’re doing burritos, taco catering full time. So if you guys need it Monday through Sunday, we’re available. Just let us know, man.
Well, Carlos, I am absolutely starving like I told you before. And I just can’t wait to try this. So let’s go over and let’s see how you make everything.
All right Scott. Thank you man. Appreciate it.
So this is the chilaquiles breakfast burrito from Big Art’s Tacos. Look at the size of this bad boy. Now, one thing I’m gonna tell you is make sure you come with your appetite because this isn’t just for breakfast. It’s also for lunch and possibly dinner ’cause you won’t be eating the rest of the day. Let’s dive into this. Break it up. Put some of their spicy salsa on it and dive in. And then wash it down with their delicious horchata.
There’s so much inside this burrito. I’m impressed that they’re able to get all this inside the burrito itself. You got the egg, the carne asada, the avocado sauce as well as the tater tots and just everything all together. It just fits. And you can just taste the carne asada, which is extremely, incredibly delicious. Then in addition you taste the egg and the softness of the tater tots. A little bit of crunchiness from the chilaquiles to chips. And then just the red salsa gives it all that spice on top of it. This is a solid breakfast burrito, if that’s what you’re looking for.
So Big Art’s Tacos, they’re located in Mission Hills and they are at Devonshire and Sepulveda. They’re on Sepulveda on the north side of the street on the northeast corner, behind the Bank of America building.
