It’s time for another episode of Eat Live Love San Fernando Valley, and today we’re visiting Pops Creamery. This is one of the best ice cream shops in the San Fernando Valley. They make incredible handmade ice cream with unique flavors.
I got a chance to chat with the shop’s owner Marthin, who told me that each flavor they make is pulled straight from his own personal recipes. He prides himself on being the gold standard for ice cream and he has the pedigree to back it up. He’s a sixth-generation ice cream maker and still has family members with ice cream parlors back in Belize, where he was born.
L.A. is a melting pot, and that’s what Pops Creamery aims to be. Marthin adds delicious, unique flavors such as Thai tea, honey lavender, and lucuma (an exotic fruit from Peru). You can come in and find pretty much any flavor of ice cream you can think of. The flavor selection is off the charts and always on point.
Marthin sources local produce as much as he can. He also sources exotic ingredients for certain flavors like cacao from Belize and lavender from Provence, France.
I had the coconut sundae, which Marthin says is the best sundae in L.A. They start by cracking a coconut in half, then shave the pulp into a fine, moist base. Then they put ice cream and fruit on top and serve it in the half-coconut shell with a mini parasol. I loved the lucuma ice cream and I can’t wait to come back to try more flavors. Next time you have a hankering for something cold and sweet, Pops Creamery is where you need to go.
If you know of any other local eateries that should be featured on a future episode, please let me know. If you have any questions for me about real estate, don’t hesitate to reach out via phone or email. I look forward to hearing from you.
