On this episode of Eat Live Love San Fernando Valley, we’re at one of the best Italian delis in L.A. Cavaretta’s Italian Deli in Canoga Park has been serving up delectable cuisine, meats, and much more since 1959, and we’re excited to visit them today.
First, I joined David Weisberg to talk about the amazing history of Cavaretta’s. He and his partner Paul have operated the deli for the last two decades with the same philosophy as the original owners in terms of knowing their customers, paying attention to the community, and providing the best Italian meats and foods in the SFV. They aren’t just a deli; they’re a full-blown bakery, catering business, sandwich shop, and grocery store. You can get anything from fresh-baked cannoli to imported San Marzano tomatoes, prosciutto, and mozzarella.
“Cavaretta’s knows their customers, community, and the best Italian meats in L.A.”
We had the opportunity to enjoy one of the best items on the menu: the meatball sandwich. The meatball itself is hand-rolled and made with beef, fresh Italian breadcrumbs, spices, and a few secret ingredients to create a gorgeous, plump meatball that goes perfectly with their fresh-baked Italian bread, classic marinara sauce, and provolone cheese to make a classic meatball sandwich that’s just a pleasure to eat. Check out my candid reaction to my first bite of this Cavaretta’s special at the 4:30 mark in the video above.

If you have any other questions for me or know of another local eatery I should visit next time, don’t hesitate to reach out via phone or email. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
